If it happens it's cool, it's happened a few times when I've been playing Horizon 2, I see something and I want to go look at it, but mostly I am happy to open up the map, hit follow quest, and travel towards the floating flag in-game. No, I'm not really playing games for exploration as such. Same with minor Erdtrees which always have a bossfight that rewards you with useful stuff. Games are now designed with opening the map, looking at an icon of something you need, beelining there, seeing the icon change into one with a checkmark, and continuing.Įlden Ring is amazing because it makes you use your eyes and brain to find points of interest, but isn't unfair and also has some in-game ways to point you in the right direction, like the statues that point you to catacombs and the design of the map itself - you are not brainlessy looking for a skull icon to find a boss or a chest icon to find a chest, instead you look at the map and see a structure in the middle of the field across a forest, so you put a waypoint there because you know something is going to be there - same with mines, they are not marked with an icon on the map, but instead if you look closely you see that the entrances to the mines are drawn in a specific, hard-to-miss way, so you know what to look for. People don't like to wander aimlessly, so they look at the map. In Horizon, for example, you have no way of knowing where to find a cauldron, or a specific type of machine, or a specific type of side mission without stumbling upon it or looking at the map. And even if you want to use the map, you don't have a GPS, instead you have the wind pointing you in the right direction, which when I think of it is similar to the rays of light from the main graces in ER, except the wind is always active as long as you have a marker or a mission objective, and you can press a button to make it clearer where to go. Smoke stacks lead you to enemy camps, foxes lead you to charm upgrades, Torii gates lead you to new charms etc. The only non-ER open world game that can be played fine without markers on the map is Ghost of Tsushima, this is because it has diagetic in-game ways to point you to points of interest. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell anyway, there's no way to completely turn off the gold & blue icons on the world map. This made me appreciate the map and compass a lot more than if I had waypoints turned on. There's a really handy "exploration" mode that you can turn on that gives you the detailed directions that are usually revealed beforehand in NPC conversations. In my opinion, AC Valhalla managed to strike the right balance between giving you too much direction and giving too little. Dying Light 2 also has this issue and I don't think you can turn off map icons in that game (which is sad because I think that an urban game where you had the option to navigate using street signs would've been neat). So you're kinda forced to still rely on the GPS line and quest icon marker on the main map. The main issue with playing like this is that the game's NPCs provide detailed quest directions for navigation but doesn't save those directions for you. When it comes to quests, for the most part, I usually use the map to guide myself to quest objectives and flick the touchpad to occasionally turn on the hud compass (a smart compromise imo). I've been able to organically stumble upon the open world content instead of just knowing it's on my map (though I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally glided into or near Teknath enemy camps because of this lol). I think I'm 30 hours in and the game has been playable without the icons splurged all over the map or having the compass on all the time. Usually people don't like turning off map icons & waypoints because games usually aren't designed in a way that will allow people to play without them but some recent open world games make me think that some game developers are learning.Īt the beginning of Horizon 2, I decided to turn off most of the map icons and the compass. I've been liking both games for different reasons but games like Horizon 2 and the recent AC games are the main reason I'm making this topic. I've been bouncing between Elden Ring and Horizon 2 recently. _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file - SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor - GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI. Semel suggests using dehydrated treats, like Stella & Chewy's, or human foods such as cooked chicken, deli turkey, hot dogs or cheese. High Value: These consist of those super delicious treats that your dog goes crazy over. “Use for cues that need more practice or working in a new environment with low to no distractions,” Semel said. Semel suggests pea-sized soft-chew training treats, like Zukes, Wellness Soft Treats or True Chews Jerky Cuts. Medium Value: These consist of treats that aren’t just regular ole kibble but also aren’t your pup’s most prized possessions. You can also use these if you’re training but just for a few cues your dog’s already mastered (since they might not be enough to convince him to try something new). You can use these treats when you’re not necessarily training but your dog does a good behavior. To teach your dog that anytime is a potential opportunity to earn something (so she’s always on her best behavior), place containers of treats in different areas around the home or carry a pouch with three types of treats that vary in value: This can be done once you are in standing position and the dog’s doing the cue by following your hand signal 90 percent of the time.

By communicating effectively with players and spectators using these hand signals, volleyball referees can ensure that the game is played fairly and safely. The centerline signal for a ball crossing under the net is identical. The same signal is used for a player off the court at service contact. When a player is at fault, the referee will indicate with an open hand which player is at fault. When a player commits any line violation, the same signal is used. There is no sweeping arm, hand, or finger motion. The signal is given by extending the arm and pointing to the middle of the line with the index finger. In this situation, the referee should use the arm on the offending team’s side and maintain a stationary signal. One of the most common hand signals is practiced when a ball completely passes beneath the net between the two net posts. Volleyball referees use hand signals to indicate various plays and rules violations to players and spectators. The signal should not look like a touchdown signal. The referee should be able to see their partner, the court, and the benches beside them. Their hands are open with palms facing behind them, and they brush the fingertips once with the fingers of the opposite hand. When a player touches a ball on the side, it goes out of bounds the referee signals with their forearms perpendicular to the floor, elbows at a 90-degree angle, and a comfortable distance apart. If the ball goes out of bounds, the referee will blow their whistle to stop play and signal for a change of possession. This signal indicates that the ball is in play and that the players can continue to compete. The position of the thumb next to the index finger indicates that the ball is in play. The referee will extend their arm with their hand open toward the court and point 45 degrees away from their body near the intersection of the attack line and sideline. One of the most common hand signals is used to indicate that the ball is in play. When Ball Is In PlayĪ referee will use hand signals to communicate with players and other officials when the ball is in play. When making this signal, always keep this in mind so that the players know what is happening on the court. It’s essential to avoid making the signal look like the catch signal, as this could confuse. The arm is bent less at the elbow, then extended with the palm up. The improper service signal starts at the thigh. This occurs when the server doesn’t execute the service properly, for instance, by failing to hit the ball over the net. Volleyball referees use specific hand signals to indicate penalties. By using a one-handed signal, the referee can ensure that the players can still understand the call. This is used to indicate to the players that there is a delay in the service. The hand signal for the delay in service is raising both arms above your head. This is because these players are less likely to be familiar with the standard hand signals used by referees. The one-handed signal is used for game delays in matches involving players aged 14 and under. By using the same digits on each hand, the referee can ensure that the players are aware of the infraction regardless of which side of the court they are on. This hand signal indicates that the server has not touched the ball within eight seconds, causing a delay in play. According to USA official volleyball, the Volleyball hand signals are shown when Delay in Service This hand signal lets everyone know that it’s about to be their turn to serve. Once the whistle is blown, the arm should be brought to the opposite chest. It is crucial that the palm is facing forward and that the whistle is blown before the signal is made. This is the most crucial signal for volleyball referees, as it starts each rally. In the USA, the first referee in a Volleyball game officially uses the beckon for serve signal to start each rally. BUT (again) for some reason, the AX is not joining the Hotspot's wireless network properly. The AX normally does not have an issue doing so as all that is required is for it to join an existing wireless network as a wireless client. What we are attempting to do here is NOT use the AX for Internet access, but just for sharing the printer. In this second configuration, the AX would "join" an existing wireless network (it doesn't, in this case, need to be one provided by another AirPort), and then, feed the Internet connection out its Ethernet port for wired clients. There is no option for connecting to a wireless network for Internet connectivity, except for the following two cases: 1) The wireless network is provided by another AirPort and the AX is configured to extend it, and 2) You have a 802.11n AX and have configured it as a wireless Ethernet bridge. If I select cable it takes me to a page with a lot of server info to fill in, as I recall.īasically, the AX is expecting to be connected to an Ethernet-based Broadband modem with an Ethernet cable. The choices are basically cable, ethernet, dial up, or "I am not connected to the internet right now", which is what I am selecting since none of the others make sense.
